*NOTE* The last G on the chorus leads directly into the intro again, as does the last G from the last chorus to the outro (just strum G a few times between where the last chorus ends and the outro begins, and you'll get it.)  Also, use the link below for a recording I did to hear the (near) proper timing of the parts.

On the recording, I put in a little fill after the D in the intro, and I also play the last C of the verse by matching it with the drum beat from the old live versions of the song (it jazzes it up a bit.)  That's done simply by alternating between playing the C, and playing the same note but with the finger resting on the string above the fret, instead of pressing down on it (my finger just barely rests on the string.)
